Planning is the step most landscape projects skip, and it is the one that decides the timeline, the budget, and whether the result is what the homeowner pictured. A design done properly up front prevents the expensive changes that happen mid-install.

What the design covers
Our design process
It starts with a consultation at your property. The designer discusses your goals, how you intend to use the space, and any specific requests, then takes measurements of the work area and inventories existing trees, shrubs, and beds. Layout, plant options, ground cover, and hardscape features all get worked through at this stage.
From there the designer builds a plan around what you asked for and produces a 3D design showing the elements of the new landscape, along with a reasonable estimate of construction cost and a time frame for the work.
Once the scope is settled, the agreement is signed and a deposit places the project on the schedule. Start dates vary by season — spring is the busiest — and crews work through the schedule as efficiently as the weather allows.
Design that survives contact with the property
A design that ignores drainage, grade, or how much sun a bed actually gets produces a landscape that looks right on paper and struggles in the ground. Because the same company installs what it designs, the plan gets checked against the realities of the site — where water goes, what the soil is, what equipment can reach — before it becomes a quote.
The result is a plan you can build in phases if you want to spread the investment across seasons, without redesigning every time.

- What happens at the first design consultation?
- A designer meets you at the property, talks through your goals and how you want to use the space, takes site measurements, assesses grade and drainage, and inventories what is already planted. You get layout suggestions, material and plant options, and an approximate timeline.
- Do you provide a 3D rendering?
- Yes. The design deliverable is a 3D plan showing the elements of the new landscape, so you can see the finished space before construction starts rather than trying to read a flat drawing.
- Can I build the design in phases?
- Often, and many clients do. A plan built with phasing in mind lets you spread the work across seasons or budgets while keeping the finished result coherent instead of stitched together.
- Do you install what you design?
- Yes — design and installation are the same company and, for hardscape, the same in-house crews. Nothing gets handed to a separate contractor to interpret.
